Ruth A. DePompolo November 23, 1922 - March 8, 2010
Ruth A. DePompolo, age 87, of Gladwin, MI, passed away Monday, March 8, 2010 at the Mid-Michigan Gladwin Pines Nursing Center. She was born on Nov. 23, 1922 in Eveleth, Minnesota the daughter of the late Victor and Mary (Anderson) Larson. She lived and raised her family in Allen Park, MI before moving to Gladwin.

Ruth loved the outdoors, swimming, dancing, traveling and summers at the lake with family and friends and helping others. She was a volunteer member of the Gladwin Volunteer Hospice and was awarded volunteer of the year.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence, five sisters and five brothers. She is survived by her children, Lauren (Timothy) Fusco of Beverly Hills, MI; Larry (Sherry) DePompolo of Dowling, MI; Bart (Darla) DePompolo of White Lake, MI; Michael (Anne) DePompolo of Golden Valley, Minnesota and Tom (Jody) DePompolo of Rockford, MI., 10 grandchildren, three great grandchildren and brother Reuben Larson of Gladwin, MI.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday., March 10, 2010 at 10 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. John Cotter officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 09 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Sisson Funeral Home with a Scripture Service at 7 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Ruth to the Hospice of your choice.

Gerald F. Richardson January 4, 1930 - March 6, 2010
Gerald F. Richardson, age 80 of West Branch passed away Saturday, March 6, 2010 at his home. He had lived in West Branch since 1979, formerly of Perrysville, OH. Gerald served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and was a member of the VFW #3775 of West Branch. He retired from Chrysler Corp. after 31 years of service. Gerald was named Ogemaw County Veteran of the year in 2009. He enjoyed golfing and helping his fellow veterans in the VFW.
Gerald is survived by his sister, Margie Waymaster of Hancock, his dear friend, Martha Cohoon of West Branch and several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Pauline Richardson and his brothers Carl and Eddie Richardson.
Visitation at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will begin Tuesday, March 9, 2010 from 2-8 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Rev. Dan Stoneback will officiate with burial following at Ogemaw Springs Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to the VFW Post #3775 or to Hospice of Helping Hands, West Branch.

Lovila I. Bonser
August 21, 1914 - March 1, 2010
Lovila Irene Bonser, age 95, of Gladwin, MI, passed away on Mar. 1, 2010 at the Gladwin Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born August 21, 1914 in Battle Creek, MI, the daughter of Stanley and Blanche (Campau) Bonser. Before moving to Gladwin, Lovila worked for Kelvinator in Grand Rapids, MI where she retired in 1976. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Mary Dicken; sister Dorothy Bosman; brother Dale Bonser and brother Glenn Bonser.
Funeral Services will be conducted Thurs., March 4, 2010 at 11 a.m. at the Sisson Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Boyce officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of services. She will be laid to rest at the Highland Cemetery in Gladwin. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Lovila to the Salvation Army.

Lewis R. Smith
October 2, 1943 - February 28, 2010
Lewis was an avid horse lover and trainer. He was a member of the Michigan Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association. He also enjoyed county music and in the early 80’s he produced a record with his band.
He was preceded in death by his Parents, Brother Ralph and Sisters Eva Case and Doreen Smith. He is survived by his children; Michael (Victoria) Smith of Fort Wayne, IN; Mark Smith of Saginaw, MI; Shelley Goeckel of Harrison, MI and Sheila (Matt) Tenwalde of Gladwin, MI. 14 grandchildren. 2 Sisters; Shirley (Dick) Snoblen of North Branch, MI and Della Harley of North Branch, MI.
In following with Lewis’s wishes cremation has taken place and there will be no public services held at this time. Arrangements were entrusted to the Sisson Funeral Home, Gladwin, MI.
Lewis W. Smith, age 66, of Gladwin, MI, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 28, 2010 at his home in Gladwin. He was born October 2, 1943 in North Branch, MI, the son of Lewis R. and Ruby M. (Blackmer) Smith.

Gene R. Bireley
March 21, 1934 - February 24, 2010
Gene R. Bireley, age 75 of St. Helen, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2010 at Banner Garden Hospice in Mesa, AZ. Gene had lived in St. Helen for most of his life. He was a member of the American Legion #416 of St. Helen and a member and honorary life member of the Ferndale Elks Lodge #1588. He loved movies and hunting.
Gene is survived by his children, Blaine Bireley (Deborah Yurgil) of Madison Heights, Robin James of Gilbert, AZ and Morgan Bireley of Jacksonville, FL, grandchildren; Shane, Kellie, Caitlyn, Mary, Ronald and AshLee, his great-granddaughter, Isabella and his special person, Betty Cox of Jacksonville, FL. He was preceded in death by a son, William Bireley.

Alan R. Brown, age 51 of St. Helen, passed away Friday Feb. 19, 2010 at West Branch Regional Medical Center. Alan had lived in St. Helen since 1987, formerly of Port Huron. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, NASCAR, and collecting Sponge Bob memorabilia.
Alan is survived by sister, Constance (Theodore) Golubinski of Smith Creek, MI, brother, John M. (Shirley) Brown of Fort Gratiot Twp, MI, sister, Carol Monahan of Baltimore, MD, brother, Perry (Sandy) Brown of Ada, MI and sister, Marjorie Thomas of St. Helen. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Alan is preceded in death by sister, Janet Henderson.

Roy H. Wing
December 22, 1922 - February 13, 2010
Roy H. Wing, age 87, passed away Saturday Feb. 13, 2010 at Bortz Health Care of West Branch. Roy had lived in West Branch since 1987, formerly of Sterling Heights. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and then worked out of Harbor Beach as a ship oiler sailing the Great Lakes. He was a life member of the VFW #7303 and a life member of the Detroit Odd Fellows. He enjoyed woodworking and working on cars.
Roy is survived by his wife, Jadwiga “Hattie” Wing of West Branch, children, Renata (Henry) Sorensen of Rochester, Andrew (Roxanne) Wing Sr. of Lapeer and Christina (Richard) Brooks of Ferndale, grandchildren: Andrew Jr., Ryan and Lauren. Also surviving are his sister, Fay (Clarence) Block of Gafney, S.C., cousins, Lorraine of Tampa, FL and Betty of Sacramento, CA and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Marlene L. Balko-Herod, age 50 of Boca Raton, FL passed suddenly away at her home Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2010. Marlene had lived in Boca Raton since 2004, formerly Michigan and Texas. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Boca Raton, the National Humane Society and PETA.
Marlene is survived by her siblings, William Balko of Saginaw, Elaine (Merl) Miller of Alger, Diana Balko of Gladwin and Michael (Darla) Balko Sr. of Gladwin, her nephews Jonathan Carr, Jeffery Miller, Jeremy Miller and Joshua Miller. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mae Balko.
Visitation at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will begin on Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2010 from 6 – 9 p.m. and Wednesday from noon - 9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 25, 2010 at the funeral home.

Cynthia L. Diehl, age 61 of Nashville, TN, passed away Tuesday Feb. 9, 2010 at Vanderbilt Hospital. She had lived in Nashville, TN for the last 18 years, formerly of Romulus, MI. Cynthia loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Cynthia is survived by daughters, Tanya Loving of Madison, TN, Danielle Diehl of Romulus, MI, Natima Fisher of Nashville, TN, son, Jason Diehl of Madison, TN, and sister, Shirley (Thurman) Heintzelman of St. Helen. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren, Shanice, Kaitlin, Tyler, Jason, Adian, and Jordan. She is preceded in death by parents, Paul (Pauline) Diehl, and brother, Dennis Diehl.

Tiffany Lynn Ann Miller April 16, 1984 - February 6, 2010
Tiffany Lynn Ann Miller, age 25 of Cheboygan, passed away Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010. Until recently, Tiffany had been a resident of Prescott. She attended Whittemore-Prescott High School: she was artistic and enjoyed fishing and camping.
Tiffany was a loving wife and mother to her husband, Specialist Jeremy Miller and her daughter, Carly Miller both of Prescott. Also surviving are her parents, Randall and Ronnie Eddy of Cheboygan, her brothers, Brandon and Corey (Theresa) Eddy all of Cheboygan, her grandmother, Diane Henniger of Alger and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
